Robb Johnson is the current Running Backs coach for Stevenson University (Owings Mills, MD) football program. Coach Johnson brings a wealth of experience, having coached on the various collegiate levels within the NCAA. His various levels of experience include NCAA Division I (FCS) [Towson University, Morgan State University], NCAA Division II [Bowie State University], and NCAA Division III [Stevenson University] football levels. He also brings NFL coaching experience, having served in an internship role, as an Assistant Defensive Backs coach for the Washington Redskins in 2016 through the NFL Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship.
Prior to Stevenson University, Johnson served as defensive quality control, as well as, assisted with the Cornerbacks at Towson University (2017).
Prior to Towson, he was an assistant football coach at Morgan State University (2014-2017), where he was a member of a first-year coaching staff that helped guide Morgan State to a share of the 2014 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Football Championship, as well as, represented the MEAC in the 2014 NCAA FCS football playoffs.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Johnson served as an assistant defensive backs coach in the NFL Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship with the Washington Redskins in 2016. The program provides college coaches the opportunity to work with NFL organizations during the offseason, mini-camp, training camp and pre-season NFL games.
At Bowie State University (2007-2010), Johnson served in many capacities—quarterbacks coach, recruiting coordinator, passing game coordinator and during the 2006 spring—running backs coach.
Coach Johnson has served as head football coach at various high schools within the State of Maryland.
Johnson, a Baltimore, Maryland native, was a standout defensive back for Morgan State University, where he earned varsity letters all four years. As a sophomore, Johnson was the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Interception Leader, finishing the season with 7 interceptions. His collegiate honors include All-MEAC Second Team Defense, All-MEAC Honorable Mention, Street & Smith Magazine Pre-Season Division I-AA (now FCS) All-American, and Sporting News Pre-Season Division I-AA (FCS) All-American. His 13 career interceptions still rank him No. 2 on Morgan State’s All-Time Career Interceptions List.
Johnson is a U.S. Military Veteran having served in the United States Air Force as a member of the Security Forces. He served deployments for the US Air Force Security Forces in Al-Khobar (Saudi Arabia), Dhahran (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait (Saudi Arabia) in support of Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield and Aviano Air Base (Italy) in support of NATO.
Johnson holds a Bachelor degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Baltimore. He is a Prince Hall Mason and also member of the American Football Coaches Association.
Johnson and his wife, Shana currently reside in Essex, MD with three children combined, daughters—Gabrielle and Faith and son, My'Kal.
